Checking out Saturday's killer course? What were the trails like?
Very solid single track - as fast as you're capable of climbing. No deep ruts so passing is possible if you pick your locations carefully. Probably posthole if you go too far off the track, but its wide enough that you don't have to be too particular about your foot placement. Friday's storm could change all that though, particularly if it comes as rain... Some exposed rock, so I don't think the base depth is as deep as we have down here - so prolonged rain could reduce the base pretty quickly.
My GPS track doesn't really match the trail map as far as Dave's course description goes, but I'm pretty sure I hit all the trails/junctions as he describes - I just don't think the 2nd climb is quite as killer as advertised but the descent is quite technical. And although the stretch after Rose Ledge is downhill, there are a number of short steep climbs embedded in that section, so don't kid yourself that all the climbing is done after turning the corner for home....
