Nice work - that was tough terrain to move up in. You definitely earned it. I was really excited to see how many USMAOCers met the 10 min/km standard this weekend.

Did you have a chance to talk over the transition from intermediate courses to advanced courses with one of the more experienced team members? There are some differences in what a course setter is trying to test...sometimes being aware of that helps you pick a smarter (safer!) route as you start to learn some more advanced skills.

Welcome to the fun stuff! ;-)

Ma'am,

Unfortunately, no. So I had a lot of fun just finding my first point on Green- the real lack of trails (or definite linear features) was the most obvious thing I noticed. Hopefully I'll have a better experience this weekend.

Yeah, well, mine featured no talk (from the senior Campbell coach...back when he was a recently graduated USMAOCer), just a surprise registration on Brown...I recall being so confused, lost, and mad that I threw down my map, sat on a rock, ate a granola bar, and fumed.

Then I glanced down at my map, said "oh, that's where I am!" and finished the course.

If you've got a steady mentor, or someone whose explanations of O make sense to you, it might make sense to pin them down and ask about what you need to think of differently now that you're in the big leagues. Everyone will have a different answer, but it's an interesting discussion.

Run well this weekend!
