Thanks for the details. I was wondering how you experienced it. As you said at the Middle, others may be making mistakes, too, so keep on going. It worked for you. I hope that the course gets posted somewhere so that I can see it. I saw the map with the elite course which was pretty interesting. With the photos, it reminds me of an area in Gothenburg, Sweden where you ran along linear granite open spaces with marshes in between. Tough terrain. Sounds like people were pretty excited about the area, so maybe we'll get to compete on it in the near future. Congrats on your course.

I have put my route on Route Gadget so you can see the course there. Janet Tryson has also posted - interesting we both drifted to the right at the start.
Like always, you always feel that you could have done so much better! I would like to go back! Have you been following the 'forbidden features' thread? Christin and Robyn both DQ'd themselves because they crossed the narrow marsh before the pond before #7. Their splits were slower than mine so they didn't get an advantage but when it was announced about people coming forward they both felt they should - especially as Graeme Rennie had already DQ'd himself. But i think he went through water and did get a big advantage.

Have i told you that both Christin and i got entry to the GVOC Sprint camp in Vancouver in February? It includes accomm. and b'fast and lunches. Any chance you could come? I went last year and it was great! i see from your posting that you are enjoying sprints! - so maybe you want to improve! Did you see my post that The 3rd in the W35 sprint was actually a faster runner than me, but made mistakes. So experience helps!

Hi Marion. I didn't introduce myself at the finish but learned who you are at the meet in BC in July. The early part of the Long course had me so confused; I have to figure out how to adapt better and relocate better/faster. That said, I'm not nearly as fast a runner as you and Mary Jo. :-)

I think the legs to 4 and 5 on the Long could have been improved greatly if the course designer had moved 4 farther from the road -- perhaps to the two boulders or dot knoll SE of our control. Since 4 was so close to the road, that was the obvious route and I'd be surprised if anyone went straight.

Here's the map, MJC.

Hi Janet,
Mary Jo had talked about you so i had checked out your routes already! It's too bad we didn't actually get around to introducing ourselves to each other. i agree with your comments about 4-5 - though I was quite happy to run along the road at that point as i had not been doing very well at all. Even though i was really trying to go slowly at the start and keep contact, it just didn't work. I think the real reason was that I just didn't follow my compass. Hmmmm.
Anyway, a good week!
