From Rocky Rises Road, north through Rocky Rises Reserve, along the power line reserve past the school, up Maiden Gully Road a little way and then right into Durstons Road. Turn left onto Derwent Gully Road, or left a little earlier and follow tracks that come out onto Albert Street with the channel. Cross Albert, through the Danger Hill area. left to Devonshire. Might actually try a circuit of Bendigo myself one weekend.

Running? I thought you didn't touch a MTB (:

Might try what you say, the official Echidna Trail route is meant to be Rock Rises, Wicks, then up what I called Empire to Albert St

What about using the Power lines to Edwards Rd, out to the Highway, then use the service rd to get to Braedene/Pioneer Drive to get to the forest, then onto Derwent Gully Rd.

Would keep you of main roads, might try that next time. I assume you can get into the forest of the end of Braedene/Pioneer Drive?

BTW, saw a sign to Neejs? Grave, of Empire Rd, have you been to it?

Ninnes Grave (blogged). I wouldn't bother, unless you are really interested in graves.

My suggested route has about 300 metres of main road.

The Lonely Grave in Wedderburn is always worth a trip.

You can only get into the forest from Sparrowhawk Road. No access from Pioneer Drive that I know of. Will chase up my map of the forest block around Sparrowhawk road. Have done a bit of bike riding in there during my periods of injury.

Ninnes, wasn't even close. Might as well go for a gander, next time pass

Lonely Grave, now that would be a ride, might have to take the weekend to do that (:

Google maps shows contact with the bush at the end of Pioneer Dve, but no track, might be time to make one
