I can only empathize with the energy, munchie tradeoff. Here's a recent NYT article that provides some context for the "slimmer is not fitter" trade off. May the balance be with you.

I come from a background of wrestling, and it was my experience there too that the lowest weight I could achieve was not the level of my peak performance. There was a very obvious trade-off of available energy associated with maintaining a very low relative body weight. Now admittedly, some of that reflected the speed at which I dropped weight, but I definitely felt like there were some performance benefits associated with wrestling "a bit heavy." On the other hand, since I wrestled in college at 147 lbs, I think I may still be quite a few pounds short of overshooting my ideal competition weight.

Seems reasonable- good luck with the spring training offensive- looks like a good start.
Now with your wrestling background I will be careful not to jump in front of you at a control flag :-)
By the way how do you get the CSU course- are you a member?

Not a member, but I have friends, and the active core is quite happy to share resources. I was able to download maps from this link that Ross provided.

The start is off the corner of a temple parking lot on Hammond Pond Parkway just north of the Chestnut Hill Mall. I actually parked in the parking lot on the south side of the map which is a DCR parking lot and open to the public.
