Hi All,

Given the proximity to some of the biggest glaciers in the world Best of the West 2010 will utilize roped up glacier travel as a discipline in this year's event. Alpine ski touring will also be included as a discipline.
We will be providing necessary gear for the ski touring component.

Ski touring in July in the Canadian Rockies......

While the ski touring sounds awesome, I couldn't help but key in on one glaring exageration in your post.
The largest glaciers in the world exist in Antarctica, Greenland, South America, the Himalayas and Alaska. We've got some great glaciers here in AB and BC, but c'mon...as a geologist, I couldn't let that one slide. Sorry. Kudos on the value of the race offering though.

By the way, it's about time my kids learned the truth about Santa... you got a few minutes to chat with them between now and Dec 25th :-)

It's the short ones you have to be 'fit' for... the long ones you just need to be healthy and 'stubborn'

...or as John Jacoby and Keith Murray once said, "Good adventure racers are fit, strong, and slightly overweight". Perfect!
