I dropped my unofficial splits in and yes, 17 was a bit slower compared to our other time differences.
I came across the polka-dots thinking I was about where I wanted to be, but then when the stairs were not clearly visible, I went right for just 2-3 seconds or so to assure myself that they could not possibly be that direction and went back left to them.
I didn't see the "under" aspect of 6 and so didn't climb in and out. I'm not sure how much of that is accounted for in the time difference... [I was at the spot on the map, checked, saw bridge / stream crossing clue, and went on... In the event I'd have checked further if the flag was not partially visible through the cracks of the bridge...]
Thanks for posting your splits. I would say that my rough estimate of losing 45 seconds due to my uncertainty on #17 is pretty good -- you were a minute faster than me on that control, while on most other controls, you were faster than I was, but not generally by a whole lot.
I'm thinking if I hadn't bobbled that control, you might reasonably have been 15 seconds or so faster than me. Thus, 45 seconds seems like the ballpark time lost ...
Agreed - and hopefully Mike will drop some splits in too;-)
