J-J's Billygoat statistics for 1979 - 2008 have just been updated on the web. Thinking of moving up in "lifetime points" or in total time on Billygoat courses? Find out where you stand.

I am looking for a single billygoat statistic: start time 2009?

coach:
Every BG starts at 11am, I assume Bob knows the tradition.

Although the UNO page doesn't specify, I'll confirm that the start time is 11 AM, as Bob sent out a note to UNO members looking for volunteers and that's what he said.

Thanks coach and JJ.
That's an extra hour over my guess of a 10am start.
It's great that there's a tradition to the BG, but perhaps a little more specificity on the website would help newcomers.
Cheers,
Ian. (P.s. I'm not actually running - too far for me:-)

BG thread started 3/22 (w/o any recent tickles) with start time noted on 4/10 & again 4/22...pesky details:)

Not everyone gets their information from AttackPoint (though they should), and the Billygoat schedule page and the UNO page don't list the start time.

PG:
Not quite complete Billygoat results, with the corrections that Alex Jospe is female and Valeriy Doverov is male. And a couple more finishers. There were 78 finishers within the 3.5 hour time limit.

And the course (with my route). As usual, you could skip a control, and go to either of the two #5's.

nice..what top 3 skipped ? it will be interesting to know.. staying home - 15 seems like a good choice

Letter & number in blue in PG's picture indicates whether the runner went Left or Right on #5 and which control they skipped. We were still gathering that info when the picture was taken. As I remember, Eric Nystrom went right and skipped #15.
15 and 7 were the top 2 skips.

From a pure distance perspective, assuming straight line navigation, skipping 15 cut out 430 meters, 7 cut out 370 m, and 4 cut out 390 m (assuming runner went to the Left (northern) #5).

But 15 was almost all trail run (taking the road, driveway route), 4 was also long trail possibilities while 7 was through potentially bland and crappy woods.

7 did take a long time to get there. It was originally my 3rd choice out of 4 I considered, but looks now like it might be best.

In case there isn't an official Route Gadget for the race, you are welcome to enter your routes on mine.

I have an old version that doesn't do forks or skips, so I didn't draw to #5, #7, or #15 (any other skips can't be entered, and these controls need to be combined if entering spilts as well).

sometimes skipping the last checkpoint can be fun right Nick!

Nick:
hammer , i have my 3rd choice skipping second last ..last one will be good too.. and it can be fun ( if that late in the game one still have opportunities to skip )

Videos from the Billygoat

Start - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FvxO2DfLEo

Third control - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHMWYWiD5PQ

Had we been aware of the floating bog on the "trail" under the power lines on the road/trail option between 14 and 15 would have set up there to tape - sounds like some interesting experiences...

Provisional results are temporarily up here, and should appear on the billygoat.org page fairly soon. If anybody has any of the missing information regarding forks/skip, let me know and I'll add it.

My split at #14 is wrong....... I was with GregB at that point. Not sure where the info came from....
