just remembered, i was going to remind you of the importance of doing back strengthening stuff if you pick up on core work. otherwise, i think you might run the risk of damaging your back. or something. so, after jelly-rolling around, you could add some superman things. and, to get your splits, just sit in them every night. or, you can do that quad stretch lying down w/ your foot under your butt. it hurts like mess...

hmmm. What is a superman? Is that the one where you lie on your stomach and try to lift your legs up and look pained?

legs and arms simultaneously. even better, lift just your upper body while holding your hands under your chin (like w/ your elbows bent). like a reverse crunch. also, a really easy, not painful thing, is to be on hands and knees and lift one arm and opposite leg and hold it and then switch sides.

ps as long as the woods intervals dont wipe me out or give me poison ivy, could we go to the track for a wee bit? and if you are done running, you could just tell me what to do. I really want to get my mile time down...

pps and I want to run a bit of a loop before the intervals. perhaps just from dance to and around gimghoul?

Oh yes we have to do both of those in my circuit power pump class at the gym.

aren't they fantastic? hahaha. they also make you kick higher in ballet, cuz once you reach a certain point, you start using your lower back more and so it needs to be strong.

ah haven't done ballet since i started doing them. But yes they are quite good!

Alright, I'll try it soon. Just not in our room, because there's not much space and I think my hips would explode if I tried it on our floor.

How about if I run at the track while you do Gimghoul, and then we could meet up for woods intervals and then head back to the track...and I might run a bit or just watch you/cheer for you while starting calc?

And Alison, your gym workouts sound intense!

i miss ballet!!!!!!!!!!!!! bahhhhhhhh!!! last time I took a real class was last summer. and i dont think I'm going to pay for them again this summer. the school here is fantastic, but super expensive. perhaps I'll just start practicing more on my own...

Holly, sounds good. I might do a shorter loop so we can get going. but, I'll end at the track so I can find you. before 12:40.

Yes, do find a gym mat or something similar for supermans. I can say from the experience of many, many afternoons doing core workouts on concrete floors that it is not terribly comfortable...

Oh, and congrats on JWOC!

That's just because Jordan is sadistic, Hannah. Concrete is not necessary for the crazy things you all do!

I like the back strengthening exercise where you start of all fours, lift the opposite leg and arm so they're straight (and keep your hips level), and then move arm and leg 90 degrees to the side. Hold that for a few deep breaths...

Congrats, Holly! (Not unexpected, of course) - Italy is wonderful, and I love the area where you'll be competing (Jon was stationed in Vicenza right after we graduated). What a great event!

I agree (both with no need for concrete and Jordan's sadism!), ma'am, but the Arvin staff is not likely to be happy if we install mats across the end of one of their basement hallways and it is always too crowded up in the '62 room.

Thanks, Hannah and Tori!

And that does sound painful on concrete floors! I'll probably try them outside on the grass, despite the fact that people give me a hard time about doing ridiculous ab workouts by the sidewalk :-).

Nice! I've heard it's very steep, though...I should probably start running up lots of hills.

Yeah, that's where he was when he was training to break 11 on the 2-mile. They did some CRAZY runs in town. Then again, light airborne ranger infantry types think that's a normal part of their day...

Hill training would be good. Maybe you should come live at West Point for awhile! ;-)

Concrete is good.

Congrats Holly.

The course distances I saw at one point are much shorter than Sweden.... Much more elevation. Good times :-D

Haha yeah, sounds like there is a lot of climb there!

Jordan, thanks and same to you! It's too bad about the training conflict :-(. I'm excited that there won't be any swamps to get lost in this year.
