I see there is yet another reason to attend the next World Masters Games and WMOC: "Come to Lithgow, the place where some Aussies tried to derail the Queen's train"

Yes full of history. You can go for a ride on a train too at the Zig zag railway!

Another reason to go to Lithgow - it was the coolest place in Australia this morning with a low of 7.8 C (46 F for American readers).

(For the benefit of those who haven't been following the discussion on various logs from the area, southeast Australia is currently experiencing an extreme heatwave with highs widely in the low to mid 40s C/110s F).

It was also the scene for one of my all-time favourite lines in a news bulletin - a radio report about the threatened closure of the local railway workshops started 'The future of the Lithgow loco depot is in limbo...'.

How Aussie to celebrate our great failures...

Anzac, the failed invasion
Lithgow the failed assassination

"coolest place in Australia"
Blair, you could only be talking temperature wise.

I remember a cold xmas 5-day there a few years back....much colder than the recent one in Victoria.

Hey invisible......

Does that make me a "celebrated" orienteer?
