A new and interesting adventure race format that is uniquely suited to the talents of navigators and orienteerers -
The Saucony RockstAR adventure race at the Bark Lake Leadership Centre in Haliburton Ontario on July 12.
HOW THE RACE WORKS:
The first 2-3 hours will be a marked mountain bike course, then for the remainder of the 8-hour race time, teams will use a map to navigate to checkpoints using a combination of canoeing and trekking. It's rogaine-style, meaning that the checkpoints are worth different point values, and you can visit as many or as few of the optional checkpoints as you'd like.
If you're tired after 6 hours, you can quit and hang out by the lake. It all finishes up with a post-race party on the beach with dinner and tunes.
Teams of two or three can participate, and you can either rent a canoe or bring one of your own. The race runs from noon till 8 p.m. with a great party afterwards featuring the Rockband contest!
