From your GPS tracks, it looks like you did some pretty good map reading, but not enough compass double-checking. Growing up in the Bay Area, I learned to orienteer w/o using my compass, and then when I got to East Coast and wanted to get better, that was a real handicap, but I didn't really know it, because most of the time I read the map fine.
Then there was a Night O' where I kept getting totally turned around. So at some point I decided to check my compass every 15 seconds and I needed to, to keep straight!
After that, I tried something like that during the day, and it sure helped me catch map reading errors fast...
