I have to admit that I was really worried about your stomach - as evidenced by the fact that I met you after each loop and asked if you had thrown up yet, lol. That weather was the absolute worst for anyone who normally gets tummy trouble with exertion. Given that two of your good friends had issues, it seems that your pace, nutrition and self care were key to your success. It must feel good to know that you *can* manage your body in those conditions because you've always wondered if it was even possible.
You were 19th of 61 teams overall over the two days - congrats!
Pre-race at your well-equipped team TA.
Starting in the heat. Tarno wearing hot pants.
End of the trek - all looking cheerful!
Starting 2nd leg paddle.
Ending 2nd leg paddle. When I first glanced at this photo, I thought your team was eagerly checking the clipboard to see whether you could catch the next team ahead. But it turns out your teammates were enthusiastically sorting through a box of Hallowe'en candy. :)
Possibly the most genuine smile I've ever seen on your face at the end of an overnight race.
