Is it passable because it's winter?

Is that actually fight, or is it medium green? In any case, it's mountain laurel, which doesn't change appreciably with the seasons, but my recollection is that it's pretty mature laurel and not hard to go under/around the bushes. And laurel doesn't scare a wrangler like Charlie.

J-J is right. This is pretty mature laurel, and I’m pretty used to it, so just picked m way through. I would have gone off to the left to find a little passage, but I could see ahead that this was reasonably passable. So maybe it could be medium green now. The map could use some updating, although it is mostly pretty good.

As we were setting, I was thinking this looked thinned out a lot from mapping days. I went through the slot of open S of that green each time but even from there looked passable. And hadn’t focused that the green course naturally would want to go straight through. There are other sections of dark green that also have grown out. So where do you start? Or let folks come to the conclusion Charlie did?

The green ink on the map shows where the laurel is, and it's an excellent navigational feature. Then when you see it, you can decide that there's a way through. It would be much worse to be off the other way, to expect decent woods and find your way blocked.

A mapping problem I was thinking about recently, for no particular reason. It seems like we could use a symbol of dark green dots, which showed passable in about 20-50% of the area, but the orienteer has to find the way. So it is rough navigationally useful, but cannot be used for control placement, and would slow you about to half pace.

That would fit the area in question.

Dominie uses a camouflage-like pattern for areas like that.
