Don't beat yourself up to hard. First real races this year and you haven't been anywhere near this level of technical difficulty here in Hamilton. Also, running in terrain, esp like the one Västervik, is very differens from DV. Give yourself some time to re-acclimatize and find a race later in the fall to have as a goal.
Swedish champs are a few weeks away. Are you running those? Terrain much tougher than Västervik.

1min/km behind two of the best in the World, in my opinion, is a really great place to be given, like Hans says, haven't been running in Swedish terrain much.

Personally I would take this as a win. Build up that woods running strength and dexterity and some more O sessions behind you and all will fall into place. I often find that when the terrain pushes me around a lot that I don't focus on the map as much or looking up on compass bearings. A few more sessions of woods running intervals and you will be within 0.5min/km in no time .

Yes, I'll be running those! I can't say given that 50 percent of Swedish orienteers are seemingly in Gothenburg, that I don't have particularly high hopes, but it'll be fun and good training.

Thanks though Hammer and Sudden, disregarding the results list, I'm happy with the run. Some good parts to build on.

You should have high hopes on running good races technically. Location doesn't dictate that and you are in control of that 'detail'.
Looking at the maps and embargoed areas, I don't think the terrain is that extreme but a challenge for sure.

Only races to beat yourself up over are the important ones: Ontario, Canadian and North American relays!

And good luck over there this fall!

That’s true, run as best as I can and see what happens.

Only the highest level of competition. Thanks though, it’ll be fun to run some races and actually orienteer with others!
