Any sign of the old ski run or equipment?
Yup - one of the permanent markers is on one of the tow rope towers at the top of the slope. Once upon a time the slope must have been opened up, because its basically a jeep trail running down the tow rope line, but not much else. But its also 'greener' than the north part of the park which presumably is fairly mature forest. You don't have a copy of the original map do you? I'd love to compare...
Couldn’t find one. Will look again. Can’t remember why we went over there back then. Oops - Lyn says a teacher called about O there. Went over to look around but was in the days of big areas for all courses for our club.
Yeah, its a pretty small place, but worthy for beginners or DIY/permanent courses. And a pretty quick job to map it - should finish up field work by the end of the week if weather cooperates. Then back to Buckingham/Case...
Case sounds interesting. Looking forward to checking it out.
Case is a long term (ie huge) project. I'm planning on mapping from Hebron Ave in Glastonbury up through Porter/Howard in Manchester. The immediate Case area is just a part of that. Have the lidar run to include a redo of Gay City/Blackledge across Birch Mountain Road as well. I think its over 20 sq km all told... I think we figured that at 1:10,000 the map would be something like 28x34"
I did of the area just NE of where you’re working over 10 years ago with Dunleavey base map. Not as many trails in those days but have those and lots of rock and cliff features, even stone walls. Will send it along.
I have (had?) the Dunleavey base and have done some field work in that section. That was part of the Gay City photogrammetry that we never got field checked for the Troll Cup.
Did you do a full field check of the entire area up to Coop Sawmill Road? I think it was like 4km? A big chunk of the hillside just north of the powerline was logged a few years ago and is just a mess of undergrowth and logging leftovers. But having any field work you did would be useful - thanks for offering.
Did some work, not a total job, but a quick look yesterday indicates more work than I remember. Will send along.
Ocad #? Or jpeg, pdf?
Ocad should work. Pretty sure OOM will read all versions as a template. JPG or PNG would also work though would need referencing.
