The results from Possum Trot XX are here. Many thanks to course setter Mike Shifman, co-meet directors Eric Shcumaker and Dick Neuburger and all the other volunteers.

Simon Hansen and Cristina Luis won. Mike Eglinski and Fritiz Menninger finished their 20th Trot, to remain the only two to have done them all. And Phil Bricker and Steve Tarry are on track to complete the Goat Grand Slam in 2019.

Thanks to all who came from far and wide to enjoy the nice weather and (relatively) open woods.

Thanks to all of the PTOC and OK volunteers, and especially Mike Shifman for all his course setting work! Thumbs up for the terrain, which was enjoyable and only drew a tablespoon or two of blood!

What is the Goat Grand Slam? That is, which events are officially (or unofficially?) part of the slam?

Yes, thank you to all of the organizers and volunteers! It was a great weekend.

From what I've heard, it's unofficially the Billygoat, Hudson Highlander, Possum Trot, and Blue Hills Traverse. A bit Northeast-centric (except for the PT).

Yeah, the Triple Crown is the Billygoat, HH, and BHT. Usually a few people do all three. Once in a while somebody also does something else appropriate and makes it the Grand Slam. Most often that fourth something has been the PT. (This is all very low key, it's just an email that I send out in December to the people who do the Triple Crown.)

It may have been somewhat bastardized over the years, but the original and legitimate Grand Slam includes the PT. Dating back to year 1 of the PT, when men were men, etc., and the course was 16 km with no skips.

I'm curious why the Stumble didn't make the cut.

Peter was the trailblazer, thus the PT. I ain't saying that the Triple Crown plus the Stumble wouldn't get a mention. Likewise for the Bubbagoat, etc. The Triple Crown is what it is because they're all fairly close together, and they're all cool (well, except for the BHT).

I especially appreciated the humane course design, which this year did not require climbing any honey locust trees in order to punch the tree controls. Thank you PTOC and OK for a wonderful race!
