Discussion: 29th annual CNYO rogaine coming up

Having just been to the Raccoongaine this last weekend, it occurs to me that I should be doing some promotion of our own CNYO 6/12/24 hour rogaine in state forests near Brookfield NY the weekend of July 13-14. While we won't be having any of the controversial "mystery controls" being discussed in the context of the Raccoongaine, I think that both recreational and more competitive participants will find a lot to enjoy in the forested, hilly terrain of upstate NY. Some of the details are still being finalized, so the information sheet is not up on the CNYO website yet, but we're definitely having the event again this year!

I remember my first and only 24-hour Rogaine (way back when) at Brookfield ... allergies, lack of sleep, horsehoof-rutted trails, and blisters.

I learned several things from that one.

Janet, I not-so-fondly remember the muddy, horsehoof-rutted trails myself! And that was a long time ago! I'll optimistically assume things are much better now. I fortunately didn't have allergy issues. I suspect there were blisters as that goes along with rogaining. I think I did the 12-hour (I know it wasn't the 24) so lack of sleep wasn't an issue at least.

Yes, be optimistic! CNYO rogaines are the best.

Like I said, I learned some things: the shorter the rogaine the better (for me), have allergy medicine available, and learn how to prep your feet. I stopped wearing hiking boots for rogaines after that one.
