Are you going to be on Jeopardy?

Unclear. Everyone who auditions is placed into the "contestant pool" for 18 months. During those 18 months, they can call you and tell you that you made it, or they can not call you at all, and when 18 months pass, you know that they didn't want you. They told us not to expect any calls before June...

Wow, you're the first person I know who's done this, how was it?

It was very fun, and also nerve-wracking. There was a written test (presumably to weed out people who cheated on the online test or something), and then a series of mock games with three contestants playing at a time, and then talking about themselves. Obviously, I talked about orienteering.

I should do the online quiz, although I'm not at the same level as a few of my Reach for the Top teammates.

Hope you get the call! (based on contestants I've seen on the show, having an uncommon hobby is probably a BIG plus)

First person I've known to have gotten past the online text (and I don't remember if anyone else took it). Some Qs...

Any idea how well you did online (as in a score -- absolute or relative)?

Were the mock games full games?

BorisGr:
I think I got 40-42 right on the online test. The mock games were about 10-12 questions or so.
Oddly, a colleague in my office auditioned the same weekend

I swear, every time I happen to watch Jeopardy, I end up saying, "I bet Boris, would crash this topic!"

Hopefully you're better at talking about orienteering in a telegenic way than I was - I never heard back from them the one time I auditioned.

I don't remember there being an online test when I did it - a sign of how long ago that was, I guess. I'm tempted to go look at the test just to see whether a superficial knowledge of the periodic table is still as important as I remember it being.

Way to go, Boris!! Hope they call you back for a show! Isn't the Audition Manager a fun guy? I was happy to get that far (and thnk my older son would do well if he ever tried out).

I took the online test a few years ago, and drove to Boston for my audition, but didn't hear anything within the 18 months. I have a friend (librarian in Minnesota) who made it onto the show last year. Fun to watch her, but she didn't go beyond the one day. You do get $1000 for 3rd place and $2000 for 2nd so it kind of covers your travel expenses if you're called to a taping.
