Results, splits and maps are now online.

A write-up and analysis of the "choose-your-forking" race will follow.

Looks like your splits files (at least, the couple I looked at) are incorrect: all they are doing is dividing everyone's final time by the number of legs.

Yeah, thanks. We'll hopefully try a new export this evening.

Results from IOF 2 XML added to Attackpoint worked best to split by class. Using IOF 3 XML seems like it splits by course only. Map pick event (choose-your-forking on Britannia map) has a lot of trouble because it has different number of controls for the same class as well as forking. Attackpoint can't seem to understand IOF 3 XML courses with forking, doesn't like different number of splits in a class with IOF 2 XML, and for the OE CSV import it only seems to import certain people (attackpoint members?) and doesn't get splits.

So another good reason to avoid courses that have a different number of controls for competitors in the same class.

Also, MeOS seems to stick a large number of days (49710D) in front of each split time when it dumps IOF 2 XML, so that must be manually deleted from the file to make attackpoint happy to upload it.

Interesting other point MeOS added support for qualification-final events in December which puts multiple races in a single event using results from a race to determine the the start list for the next race... so given the difficulties already for forking these kind of events will need some creativity to present useful results/splits.

Thanks so much to all the organizers and volunteers - once again Vancouver Sprint Camp was a blast. So nice that you even arranged snow so us Yukoners felt at home!

Fine looking maps and courses, as usual!

Who has the longest attendance streak now?

I also have to remove the 49710D symbol (and it's not always the same symbol) from every split time in MeOS generated IOF XML v2 files before uploading them to RouteGadget. I believe it's a MeOS bug and have reported it several times.

I know this is Attackpoint and we don't tend to discuss athletic performances, but Damian Konotopetz laid down some really impressive races! He went into the hometown of the deep GVOC sprint team and won some of those by over 2 minutes!

Also, Canadian Jr women: 1st and 2nd overall. On point.

Stellar event - wish I was there.

Super high quality maps and courses.

Meghan's training notes are must read material.

I'm amazed at the GVOC sprint O machine.

And yes Nev, Damian with some emphatic wins. When you make a WOC sprint final, you're legit.

Awesome fun to look at all the maps and courses from the weekend! Wish SWSW hadn't conflicted. Who do we talk to in Vancouver to make sure we don't clash next year?

COC and GVOC are in constant communication and make use of a PNW CAN/USA planning calendar I developed after the conflict this year was discovered. All clubs on the west coast of CAN and the USA are a part of the planning calendar to maximize the number of events we can all travel to throughout the year. Speak with your Director of Events or equivalent if you are worried about conflicts!

Haha, Director of Events, that's a good one. ;-)

Hey Kate, have you sent an email to anyone at Sage about the new planning calendar (although we aren't exactly on the coast...)? I've been doing the Sage scheduling for the past year or so now, so would love to get access. Thanks!

I sent the information to your Club President as listed on the Sage website in September/October 2017. It has also been mentioned at all the recent OBC (OABC) meetings so your club should be aware. The calendar has everyone in BC invited as well as the western USA state clubs.

Ok thanks Kate! I'll talk to Jackie as soon as she get back from Europe.

What I was told was that Sprint Camp, going forward, is going to be permanently on Canada's Family Day weekend, now that BC and the rest of Canada have aligned.

That's the 3rd Monday in February, which is Presidents' Day in the US. For 2019, Sprint Camp will be February 15-17, 2019.

For the last 20 years (and perhaps longer), Cascade's Winter Series & School League Champs has been on the 3rd weekend of February. Safe to say, it's the club's local event of most importance (the culminating event of a 3000-start season). It's been a two-day event the last two years (relay on Sunday), and it had an NRE this year.

Due to Sprint Camp's move, we're moving our champs weekend to the 4th weekend, which will be February 23-24, 2019. At a minimum, we'll have one NRE next year, and maybe two.

So so so sad that it wasn't caught earlier... but #neveragain as we dearly missed our COC peeps and would have loved to go down to your event.

Brilliant event! Thank you all organizers!
Yes Nev, stunning results for out of town athletes Damian and Emma W. Both of them excellent coaches as well.

Choosing Presidents' Day for the day of its holiday would have been desirable for Ontario to minimize the potential disruption to the financial markets of the Toronto Stock Exchange and the US stock exchanges having differing closing dates (no more than is already the case), with many of the largest Canadian companies also being listed in the US.

The reason BC first went the week prior was so the locals could have Family Day at the Ski Resorts (debatable how many BC'ers this realistically impacts) and other recreational hotspots before the rest of Canada and the USA came over during their long weekend; spread out the crowds essentially. Family Day is not a national holiday and BC got adopted the day many years after other provinces. Sprint Camp was on our long weekend because Thomas Nipen had identified that weekend as the best weather in February and then the holiday as also put on that weekend so allowed organizers a day of recovery.

What happened in BC is that a large number of people, especially anyone who does business with the rest of Canada or the USA, never got the day off.... thus defeating its purpose because the rest of the market was live and they had this weird slow day the week after. So there has been a movement to line them up and the NDP was the party that had doing so as a campaign promise. Sprint Camp 2018 thought that moving SC to the rest of the country's holiday would mean more out of town Canadians would make the flight! Also, as expected there was an announcement that next year they would be lined up... so now everyone gets the post SC recovery/flight day!

@Hammer I know I know... 'twas quite sad even if I did enjoy my skiing at Mt Baker immensely.
