What is your sense of how much time the Betty was worth? You ran 8.24/km -- would an old-lamp have cost you anything? 5, 10, or more per Km?

Hmm, hard to compare in terms of minutes per km after just one run, but the biggest advantage is that I can run a lot straighter because I can see further. In thicker terrain, this can be extremely helpful. So I would say that it kept me from making any major mistakes, at least one of which I usually make during a night-O. At least 5 minutes, then, over 5km?

It's cool to run with, isn't it. It's most useful in open places. But in dense places you can't see any further than with halogen, the next branch is just a lot brighter. You don't have any ambient light, just as with halogen. Objects near you are much brighter than objects further away, so you cant see trough branches and bushes like you can in daylight, no matter how bright portable sun you have on your forehead is. Night O is still night O, It's just not as miserable, and it's just good for the sport.

I think if you are good at running with a 20W halogen, you don't win much with it. Maybe 50% of it comes from the lightness and 50% from the weight (pack is it's about 500 g lighter compared to 9mah nimh & halogen pack, if you use light li-ion battery without any vest). Something like one minute per hour?
