Ahh, no need for thanks! The way that I see it is that if you have the capability of helping someone, then you should do it! (Even if they did do something rather stupid to get themselves in the situation)
Plus, I would have been kicking myself later if I hadn't stopped and made sure that everything was okay.

All very true. Also true that not everyone would do something. Sad.
