Discussion: Camping

The meet website says this: "Orienteers who would like to camp at Harriman may utilize the campgrounds as walk ins, space permitting. For more information, please call the Harriman office, (845-947-2792)."

I tried calling today and left a message on an answering machine. I'm wondering if anyone has spoken with the campground folks already to get the straight scoop. The campground website says they are closed through April 27.

When I called they provided the following info: The campground is open, but they don't take reservations - that's what they mean by "walk in". Rates are starting at 26.75, and last check in is at 8pm

The campground is just beside the meeting point for day two of the event. The gave me as an address 700 Kanawauke Rd.

Thanks. I just called again (they never returned my call despite the recording that said they would) and was told mostly the same. This person said you can arrive as late as 10 PM. If after 8 the ranger station will assign a site and you can then do check-in in the morning. No arrivals after 10 PM.
