Two WMOC 2050 hopefuls, both Australians, mention "running sledge". Could you translate that into non-Strine English for the benefit of us "up over" folks? Does it perhaps have something to do with this definition?

It does. M21AS (short) in Australia is widely (especially at the Australian 3-Days) referred to as 21A-Sledge, or just "sledge" for short.
