I got a good trail rash on my elbow for the first time this summer. I was amazed at (a) how much something could hurt when it looked so superficial, and (b) how long it took to return to semi-normal (I have a small scar now after 2 months).

Ditto here. Three months after a MTB crash and I've still got a nice hyperpigmented area on my elbow. But no pain, so that's all I care about. Hope you heal better than I did!

Hard to predict the cosmetic effects months down the road but the lookout is perhaps much improved by the fact that this happened through my not visibly damaged just past knee length O tights so nothing nasty got ground into the wound. No pain now unless something presses on the scab, just a slight feeling of the skin being tight during maximum knee flexion.
