I'll also mention that earlier this month, the IOF
announced that:
In the restructured WOC program, the new “urban” format shall be a knock-out format where knock-out is defined to mean a competition with a series of elimination rounds and a first-to-finish final round.
This will take effect at the first Sprint WOC in 2020 in (likely) Denmark.
I'll also also mention that the Seattle Adventure Running Tournament, despite the simple name, is legitimate sprint orienteering on ISSOM maps. I failed to convey that to all of you last year.
SART 2016 consists of a short time trial + five knock-out sprint races. We'll start in a very scenic urban park for the time trial, then run around two other city parks, and finish the tournament with three consecutive campus sprints. One will feature the orienteering debut at Seattle Pacific University, and the semifinals and finals will be at the University of Washington, one of the finest sprint venues in the US.
This event will sell out the 80 spots, so act fast!
