Discussion: Pack Raft

Hey all need a pack raft for race next year and wondering what the actual difference is between the Alpaca scout and Yak. It looks like they are made of the same material with the only difference being the 10" tubes versus 12" inch tubes. Any big differences in paddling them?

The scout is very small. Sitting in it with your legs in the boat is a challenge. The boat rotates side to side with every paddle stroke, and it is impossible to keep it from filling with water in any sort of moving water. The Yak paddles much more like a kayak and is much faster. It is worth the extra weight and volume in my opinion. However, for an expedition AR, you can't beat two Gnu's.
