Did you consider taking the road to the N? Seems like that is only slightly more out of the way than the S route, and you could follow roads and trails nearly all the way to the edge of the circle.

That was the route I looked at first, but local knowledge led me to avoid crossing the stream there. However, it's a reasonable way to go and some people did take it.

Lord knows those guys in California need a glimpse of some decent O. What with droughts, fires and park closings, they must have very little decent O terrain left! George and Dennis must be drooling seeing that Sessions map! :-)
