On the heels of the successful Randalls island meet: something completely different! The woods are amazingly open. The terrain is classic Hudson Valley terrain. The map is still A-meet quality - we had a Billygoat there a few years ago - and we have a full set of courses. I've thrown in some almost gratuitous climb on the advanced courses for you King/Queen of the Hill Highlander types (the view from the top is wonderful). See you there!
Do you have course stats?
For a local meet? I'm guessing that they're going to be the usual distance and climb per OUSA guidelines.
Is 10-1 the start window? Considering driving down but want to be sure not to arrive after last start.
Geof has the stats. Ping him. Blue is about 9K, Red is about 7.5 K.
Joe is right, all courses are 100% USOF a-meet complaint. ;-)
We have even embargoed the area.
yes, 10-1 start times. This is a JROTC champ. It will have hundreds of people in teams out on White and Yellow
Just set out some of Bernie's controls. The woods are wonderful and the view is spectacular. Bernie, thank you for the oxygen left at the top of the hill. I helped, but I am afraid I used it all.
The view was indeed impressive. However, because there were two controls up on the hill, IMO, the climb falls short of being "gratuitous"... ;-)
Good to see fossil, and fossil jr, there, but Joe was a no show...
Loved the view! Guy, thanks for bringing a smile to my face ...as I was approaching THE big hill, I saw you just starting to make your way up... And you paused and looked up... shielding your eyes from the sun as you considered the climb... I felt like we were thinking the same thing!
:-)
Perhaps not exactly the same thing, since I was on Brown, and going up there was quite optional -- not to mention a completely boneheaded choice if I had really cared about my time...
There are optional controls on Brown?
Every course has optional controls. They're the ones that aren't circled or numbered.
Really nice meet. Thanks for arranging.
