It's pretty remarkable how much the experience changes through the year.
The difference was the only thing I could think about during our excursion. It is hard with the spring and fall to know exactly when and how much the vegetation will open or fall but it might make sense to have the odd meet done more impromptu. Control sites that are lousy in the winter might be pretty good at this time of year, without invoking a bevy of expletives.
Please keep this conversation in mind when you're orienteering this Saturday. :-) Some of the vegetation was mapped in February and it can look pretty different in September.
