Got something new? Or an alternative way to plow the driveway?

Something new on the way, probably arriving in 6 weeks. Gray Chevy 2500. Red truck was getting too unreliable, too much expense fixing this and that. I've had it 18 yrs and 11 months. Long enough.

An added benefit was the opportunity to launch Drew in his new side job plowing driveways. Gave him a really favorable price, and he is now a mechanic by trade and knows how to fix what currently ails the truck, and presumably how to keep it in working order.

Wow, time flies. I had no idea that you'd had it that long, but I guess if I thought about it, I should have. You must have gotten it right around the time that you won the US Champs in IN/OH, as Stephen is not quite that old, and Nancy was pregnant when we were at that meet.

Yes, more or less right around that time. I recall that I picked it up right after I got back from a trial in Phoenix that ended around Sept 30, and the US Champs took place at the same time as the World Series, so that would be right. These days a lot of things that seem quite recent turn out to have happened ten, fifteen, 20 years ago.

That US champs was an interesting memory. I went out there with the young Jessica, and with high hopes that she could win at F12. She had a big lead on day 1, but got flummoxed looking for the first control on day 2 and eventually bailed out to the road and gave up. Meanwhile, I had no particular aspirations, and didn't do all that well on day 1. Day 2 I was starting a ways behind Walter Siegenthaler, who was the first day leader, and observed that I had to beat him or finish within 5 minutes behind him in order to have a chance. I had quite a good run, came into the finish and saw Walter standing there. I went over and put my hand on his shoulder and was gratified to see that he was warm enough that he had certainly finished less than five minutes earlier, and so I was in.
