I have a similar "problem" with most of my HR tracks. I went looking for the cause/solution last fall. It may be that it takes a short time for you to build up enough sweat that the contact with the monitor is sufficient to get true readings. Try licking the back (or some slightly salted water).

Yeah, I'm usually pretty disciplined with the "pre-moisten" routine, but obviously didn't do enough this time. I've even convinced myself (for better or worse) that washing the HR strap too much makes it tougher to make that initial connection...

It was also pretty cool Sunday, so it did take a bit to get a sweat going. Once we get in to full on summer humidity this should cease to be an issue!

Too hot and too humid have already happened; Sunday was startling after the front passed.
