I think I might have a spare strap around somewhere. will try and have a look.

cool. if its genuinely a spare I'd be interested in acquiring it... for the appropriate payment in beer? I think I should do some more testing first though to determine whether its actually the strap, or whether its the watch not wanting to talk to the strap.

The Garmin is getting pretty old. If you can't get a cheap strap I'd skip straight to a new Suunto Ambit3.

it had a bit of a fritz after today's race and won't reset or download. the end could be near.

I haven't managed to come across it this evening :( Sounds like your watch might be the problem anyway...

it seems to have come back to life overnight (I guess I should see if it wants to talk to the hrm again now). but I think it's time to start looking at new options.
