Since when is buying a Hyundai a success?

"House hunting success finally, moved back in with the parents."

The equivalent to your example would be "Car hunting success, back driving sister's old 94 swift".
Driving any car that isn't a cast off from another family member is a major step forward. One day I might even end up with something good, but for now that money can stay in the mortgage.

I loved my '92 two-door Swift!
I'm sorta with Shep on the Hyundais though - unless they have improved significantly in recent years (we always try to avoid getting them as hire cars in Sydney because when you get above about 80kph on the M4 they sound like they are going to fall apart).

what you really meant to get was a '95 Nissan bluebird held together by cable ties

The swift has been a good little trooper for a long time - James currently has it up in emerald. And the bluebird was awesome, but I need something with a bit more practical boot space.
I test drove a lot of little shit-box hatches and the diesel i30 compared pretty well (petrol one was rubbish though). will see how it goes. I did try looking for a golf, but by the time they made it into my price range they had generally been thrashed.

It drives ok it's just the interior blue lights that bugged me plus the generally plastic finish. The engine is fine but fuel tank too small and efficiency not as stated.
