Running 1:05:00 [3]

Run on the HAFTA fat bike trail with Contour. The pup did a great job off leash, even when an aggressive dog approached from a nearby farm.

*** Snowshoe Raid ***

Great day with Bash at Snowshoe Raid. Bash showed me her way of route planning, which I've never seen anyone do before - there was a lot of math involved and almost route planning!

This year we got dropped off at the top of Pretty River PP. Bash and I took a general downhill course to the finish at the bottom. We missed a bunch of points on account of not wanting to cross the river in the SE section, leaving us with nowhere else to go to the finish line early. We did step into some open shallow water for a few paces but decided against the bigger crossing. No regrets on my part!

Bash did great navigating out in front and took better, more direct routes than I would normally do, but it was great to see that pay off with less up and downs and less distance for the points!

Snowshoeing 2:00:00 [2]

The first and last snowshoe practice for snowshoe raid. I took the day off and decided to just do a run/trek in rattlesnake, working in a good escarpment climb. It was awesome warm tropical air but the fresh snow was so heavy it bunched up beneath the snowshoes. It was like waking on tennis balls. I hope it gets colder again, just for the race and then warm again. Good news for the kiddies, it's packing snow!
