Orienteering race 1:27:14 [4]

Minnegoat short...
Kari and I pulled up and talked to Space monkey about yesterdays courses and also got a peek at the map...boy!...lots of little circles...
we had decided to do the shorter Minnegoat so that we could go pick up Syd and G'mas in Superior wi and get back home....
I am not big on technical orienteering and the weather fogged my bi-focals sport glasses...felt like I was running blind half the time squinting at the map trying to pick out the small features...I was running a bearing, trying to air out and unfog my sport glasses with my right hand (unsuccessfully) and pick off features as we went all at the same time....frustrating at times and had me mumbling and cussing a bit as we made our way around the course....
...and despite all this managed our best orienteering result ever with only 1 minute of errors over the entire course...lost :30 on 3 (must have been due to hesitation because we ran right to it) and another :30 going to 9 when I decided to take a safer around the way trail route). despite the mass start we found ourselves running alone most of the way with some early back in forth with Linear, Julia B, and Kelly...148 on the HR avg indicates a more methodic pace which this course required...
skipped 10 which was ok...looking at the map later 5 might have been a good skip allowing an out and back to 6 but hind sight is 20/20...
the whole expereince makes me think that I need to figure out how to use a magnifier now....
