Felt quite sluggish running today, but I was navigating well for most of the course, so probably wise to get the extra navigation practise in before nationals. Start to one I took really easy after yesterday, and new exactly were i was the whole way, but when i was just coming up to the circle I got confused by some rock - still do know what it was lost a minute or two. Proud of my route to 2, executed it perfectly, and heard some elites saying it was tough at the end. Good to 3, 4 and 5, then i hit the spur way to high to number 6, realised what i had done pretty quickly but it was rocky and hard to run so i lost maybe 30 seconds. Good to 7, but I had no real attack point so i lost about 20 seconds in the circle. Good to 8. Took the track route to 9. I didnt see that the out of bounds actually allowed me to go through a clearing and take a track in to the control, but i executed a tricky route choice well so i was pleased. Came a bit low to 10, but realised pretty quick upon checking the contours. Fine to 11, probably cut into the mining earlier than i should have. Terrible rookie error leaving the control, ended up exiting at an angle about 20 degreed off, but there was a track to hit so I wouldnt have lost more than 20 seconds. after that i was clean to 12, and 13. Planned on approaching 14 from the north-east side, but I knew exactly were the control was as soon as i hit the top of the creek, and could tell that it would be quicker to come from the other side were it was less thick, then fine through to 15 and the finish. Really liked the area today, courses were well set to give you spur gully legs then complex mining in the circle. Thanks Juffy and Peter.
