Orienteering race (Brown course at W.P.) 1:11:03 [3] 3.67 mi (19:22 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:122lbs shoes: OROC 340

Ran the Brown Middle course at West Point.... Bad-Bad-Bad start.... put my compass on the start point... and in doing so covered up control #1 ran out to # 2 OOPS !!! Ran back to one but lost alot of time.... But I did nail control #2 on the return !!! then goofed 3 by over running it... forgot it was 1-75 map ... saw control but thought it was to soon... saw the marsh and relo back but again lost alot of time on what should have been an easy one.... No trouble until 10 then I was standing on the bare rock and did see the bag grazed around and found it ... but again lost time... went down and around the the cliff on the right hit the big rock and went to low... to the spring...lost more time... went to low to 12 and had to run through a lot of rocks... not problems the rest of the way in... but just alot of little goof plus the big one at the start....ran well in the woods but just not thinking fast enough to cut the lost time down...
2 PM

Orienteering race (Sprint at W.P.) 11:48 [3] 1.2 km (9:50 / km)
shoes: X-TALON 212

Ran the Brown sprint at West Point...best sprint I have ever run... just one small goof ran past #11 about 10 yds and had to turn back... thought it was to small to be my dot knoll... felt strong and felt like I know where I was and where I was going.. stopped folding and unfolding the map.. and playing with the compass.... so that alot better then last week... so there was growth...now just have to trust myself and run faster....

Orienteering race (Billy Goat) 3:02:02 [3] 9.05 mi (20:07 / mi)
slept:5.0 weight:122.5lbs shoes: X-TALON 212

Ran the Billy Goat at Moreau S.P. near Fort Edward N.Y. this was the second goat for me... the first one was a bad event for me... it took five hours.... this time I was in a little better shape...Charlie was kind enough to let me tag along with him..... this helped alot... I was able to see what he was thinking on each leg....and to have a safety net....we goofed on 18 and 19 coming in to high and had to climb down through alot rocks....cost some time....I fell down about three time and by the end my back was acting up again but the last controls were on trails and flat.... I am so happy I did this event and got a shirt.....I need to do alot more work both to be able to run faster in the woods and at my nav. skill.... I was dead tired at the end... the wind was fine but legs had, had enough... thought my back would be killing me on the drive home.... took Vit. I and it was fine.... but my left knee got back in the act... and was killing me for the last hr...had to stop and get out of the car and walk around for a few minutes a few times.... But it was a great weekend..... Thanks for letting me hang with you Charlie....
