Orienteering race 41:38 [3] 3.7 km (5.3 kph) +150m

First four controls were very slow, no major errors just slow. Needed to stay in contact with the map and very slow to warm up. I also seemed to find the routes with the most fallen timber. Steady after that but found it difficult to to have a consistent pace uphill. eigth control aimed too far north, save by prominant bare rock surface and corrected. On line to control 10 but distraced by someone on my right and ended up checking a group of rocks on the edge of my circle. Back to my former line to find I was previously only 10m away from my control Duh! nasty uphill finish with nothing left in the legs.

Group Ride starting in the dark. Mentally not into it and struggle up any slight rise. I take the short option.

Slow again today. Legs just do not want to push up the hills. A bit of work to do to get back to peak.

First road bike ride after the 5 Dams ride. Legs feel sluggish. Into the wind all the way to work. Felt slow but got there in reasonable time.

Orienteering race 59:51 [4] 5.06 km (5.1 kph) +195m

Good steady race with two errors. The first error was approaching 4 when I crossed the saddle I knew exactly where I was then a few paces later nothing seemed to fit. Ater running round in circles I decided to head to the clear paddock to relocate. Thats when I realised my map had slipped in my hand and was no longer oriented. Straighteing the map everything fell into place. 2-3 minutes lost. This was a good leg and it challeged everyone.
I hit the circle of control 9 bang on, However my assumption that the control was on a rock had me lose 4 minutes as I talked myself into checking many of the rocks in the vicinity then coming back whre I had come from to find the control in the gully. Its a good idea to look at the control descriptions and not make any assumptions. It was interesting to see on route gadget 4 different aproaches to the last control - a sign of a good course. Overall very happy with 7th place considering the only training over the last few months consisted of bike riding. On the flat open areas of the map faster runners did make me look as if I was standing still but my orienteering has been quite good.
