2nd day of WS training runs.
Today was from Foresthill down to the river crossing and then we had to come up the road (not on course) to a parking lot 2 miles up the road.

@bent, this is a gorgeous section of the trail to travel on. You're going to enjoy it. Start working on your downhill muscles though because a good portion of the trail is down hill.

658m of ascent and 1129m of descent.

A little warmer today, highs around 26C. Nothing too bad.

Tomorrow is supposed to be hot so will be a good day to get a better idea of how hot it can be.

First day of the Western States training runs.
Started with a lovely long downhill section where I was running 5:30 spilts. Then we got down into the first canyon and the climb up was quite long/steep. At the bottom of the first canyon my watch showed that we had climbed only 90 m, but at the top of the second canyon I had now climbed 1090m.

After the first canyon my body seemed to adapt/settle down. Overall didn't feel too bad at the end, but sore back at the hotel after a few hours. Luckily it's only 19miles tomorrow.

Talked with a few people today. Met a guy while running and turned out I'd seen a youtube video of his first experience at WS. Ran in the last few k with another fellow who I enjoyed chatting with.

After a showed and stretching off to the Auburn Alehouse to try some of their beers.
