Adventure Racing race 4:40:00 [4]

I've always wanted to try the December Chill race down in Michigan and after sitting out Raid the Hammer I was in the need of a race before the end of the year. Audrey and I had a near perfect race. We were about middle of the pack on the first paddle, but then after the short orienteering section we were right behind the leaders on the paddle back to the TA. The biking was one of the best bike sections in a sprint adventure race. There was really no nav required, but the quality of the single track we road made up for that easiley. At the end of the bike we were told we were 15 mins down on 1st overall, and we saw the second co-ed team coming in off the bike as we ran out of the TA. The last section was a nice orienteering leg with controls. We ran some of it and crawed other sections (the woods were that thick at times). Coming into the 2nd last control we were actually with the 2nd place team, but they were done and we had to grab one more on the run back to the finish. Came in 10 mins down on 1st and won the co-ed category.

Definitely glad we headed down for this race. With unseasonably warm temps it made the day even better. Hanging out afterwards it was nice to get a chance to chat with some AR friends we don't see very often. Infiterra always puts on a good race, and with their 28 hour planned for May next year we may be heading back again shortly.

Huge congrats to the Chris and Wanda for pulling off the 2nd place co-ed. Thy started the last trek in 5th place co-ed and at least 30 min down on the 2nd place team and nav'd the section perfectly to grab the podium spot.
