Cycling race 11:23:00 [3]

Second half of the race. My goal going into this race was to complete 13 laps and ride constantly for the 24 hour period. In looking back at the previous results it seemed 12 laps was always middle of the pack, so I decided I needed to do one better. Well, I definitly met my goal and more. In keeping with my phylosophy of just keep moving I was able to ride 15 laps and ended up in 4th place overall. The only down side to the whole thing is at about lap 14 my left knee started to really hurt. I made the decision at that point that I only truly had 2 more laps left in me. Lap 15 was most likely my slowest because by that point I couldn't put any pressure on the left leg and was walking all hills (which I had been able to ride up until then). I finished lap 15 with 40 minutes until the cutoff, at that point I was in 3rd. If the 4th place rider could come in before 12 and go out again then he would get 2nd and I'd be bumped down to 4th. Well he did, and I know I couldn't ride anymore so I ended up in 4th. While a bit disappointing I can only remind myself of what I did accomplish and the way everone else was so proud/impressed with what I did do, and then I feel happy. :)

Oh yeah, for all those wondering/who've asked I will definitly be doing another one of these. They're just too much fun not to.

Note
(rest day)

Time to start eating vast quantities of food as I get ready for this weekend. I think we calculated I'm going to burn something like 20000 calories over the 24 hour period.
