Cycling race 3:30:00 [4]

So I signed up for the Steaming Nostril because I thought it would be fun to try a this race and I wanted some longer training. I definitely got the later. Started out ok and was going at my own pace. The main pack had taken off, but I was still riding strong I felt. The weather was pretty good, but the wind was terrible. At about the 25 km mark my glutes started to really tighten up on me. I jumped off the bike and tried to stretch them out. This wasn't working at all and the cramping was really painful to the point where I couldn't sit on the bike at all. I took some salt pills and drank a lot of my nuun and just tried to continue on. Needless to say I was passed by a lot of people at this point. Eventually I started to feel better and could pedal again smoothly, but by this point I was pretty sure I was in last place.

The last 10 km of the course was pretty interesting because they used a lot of farmer's lanes to link up roads and a trail that went by the river that was pretty ice covered as well. Made for interesting riding.

I'll probably have to do this one again to redeem myself, but probably not when I'm travelling as much as I am now.

Running 1:55:00 [3]

Got out for a run before Kristen took off for a girls weekend. Ran up to Kiwanis park and back. Most of the trail is just chipped gravel, but it's exposed to the sun so it was all runnable with only about 100m covered in ice.

Running 1:02:30 [3]

Tried a different route today that was way less exciting, but I knew the grand trail was exposed for most of it, hoping this would mean it's runnable. Worked out as I expected and I ended up with a pretty good run. Tried to push my pace the whole time and was happy with how the legs responded.

Running long 3:10:00 [3]

Given the travel I'm going to have in the month my goal is to make sure I keep building the long runs on the weekend. Down to the fairway bridge and back.

Running 30:00 [3]

While going down to Snowgaine was a lot of fun I'm not sure it was the best thing to do. I had a cold before I left that was just starting to get better. After 2 days of playing around in the snow the cold has come back with vengeance.

Took the last 3 days off to try and get better, and really I could barely breath so not much I could do anyways. Headed out for a short run this morning, this helped to clear the sinuses, but the cold air on my throat left me coughing a fair bit. Packed it in after 30 min because I'm not convinced it was helping.

I've had a cold all week. Headed out for a run this morning planning to do more than this, but had to turn around and head home because this was about all the body could handle. Hacking a lot by the end.
