Adventure Racing race 24:06:00 [3]

Another fun WT. The team worked well together and had a great time. I really enjoyed the first trek and the paddle the most (never thought I'd say that). The bike was a real struggle for me end to end. I would have liked a few more road sections to just break up the grind of the ATV trails.

Double Hockley Run.

Overall felt good through out. I was moving well even the last hour which was great.

Was just about to put my headphones in to start the run and a truck pulled up. Out hops Simpy and a truck full of ladies. They were about to start a loop, so I asked if I could run my first loop with them and off we went. 2 of the ladies were running the Oil Creek 100 mile in 2 weeks. Fun time throughout, although it was pretty cold (2C) at the start.

Back on the bike this morning in the basement. A bit of a warm up and then 2 20 min sessions with the HR up above 150. Watched the NatGeo documentary on the Breaking2 project.

I woke up not feeling like climbing hills at Chicopee or running with my heavy pack. I just felt like going for a run, so ... that's what I did. Ran the path beside the Grand River down past Victoria Ave and back home.

6 Repeats of Blue Mountain. On the last I was pretty cooked. The sun was out and the climb was steep. A good workout for Cloudsplitter.

Audrey and I went exploring on the trails behind the condo. Her on her bike and me running. Was hard to get my legs going and she's a lot faster on her bike than before. Once I loosened up I tried to run her biking pace which was hard on the road and chipped gravel. Luckily I got breaks on the trails and Rocky paths.

Ran from Dungron to Barb's condo in Collingwood. Lost the trail at Osler Bluff and could not figure it out, so ran around on the road, but otherwise an uneventful night run. Felt good when I was done to have it out of the way for the weekend.

I was up to ride on the trainer and then realized K-way had a breakfast meeting this morning so she wasn't going to work out. She happened to be getting up while I was getting changed, I asked if I had time for a run while she got ready. Just enough time to sneak outside and run (way better than riding in the basement).

A really good session today at Chicopee. I noticed last week even though I was running every hill my overall pace wasn't much better than when I hiked a section the previous week. Today I really tried to focus on keeping a good pace up and down. Ended up adding 2 more from last week and averaged 7.26 overall, last week my average was 7.56.

On the bike on the trainer again. Did 2 x 20 min sessions at a good pace (HR in the range of 155-165). Had a 5 min break in between. Plus warm-up/cool-down.

When the alarm went off at 5 am it was pouring rain and I was still tired. I've had a cold the last week that is taking the energy out of me. So I reset the alarm and went back to bed. An hour later the rain had let up a bit and I was way more awake. Nice run in the rain/mist.

Hill Repeats at Chicopee. I will probably need the head lamp next week. Nice to see the sun rise coming up at the top of the hill. Closest thing I get around here to the mountain view tops.

Double Hockely. Did a water drop at the far parking lot, but I should have also put some snacks and coke there as well. First loop was fine, but coming down the road after the 3 B!tch3s I was pretty hot and tired. Stopped and laid in the river for a few minutes and then took a bit of a longer TA at my water drop. From there I was able to re-group and finish the second loop off.
