Adventure Racing race 16:00:00 [3]

Haven't done Wilderness Traverse for a few years and last time we didn't finish when Tyson ended up pretty sick. Simpy joined the team this year and got along great with everyone, except for the fact that we end up showing up right before registration. I'm sure this didn't line up with diligent race prep, but we made it work and we were still in bed by 10:30.

I enjoyed everything about this race except maybe the bike ride out of CP9 until you got off the trail which was killing my hands/upper body on that section of trail. Navigation was pretty good except for some small loopy nav into CP15. Got to see lots of friends and felt like we were a part of the race the whole time. I was feeling like A$$ from the first trek up until our first swim and that seemed to really reset the body and from then on I was pretty good. Last hour of the bike ride was a bit of a slog for me, but got through it.

As always the team was a lot of fun and put up with my exuberant personality the whole race. Really glad I signed up this year. Now just 4 weeks to recover and train for 100 miles.

Running intervals 41:00 [4]

Longer intervals with only 2:30 min recovery inbetween.
First 2 were around 8:30 these two were with a headlamp and a lot of fog out there.
Last three were when the sun was up enough to see the ground. Each was just under 8 min.

Running warm up/down 46:00 [2]

Warm-up/cool-down and time inbetween intervals. Also includes some running form drills after the intervals.

Overall a good session. Last loop was pretty hard and I was feeling the climbs in the legs, which means it was good I did the last one.

We tried to go riding with Aubrey at Kolapore. Was too Rocky so Aubrey and Kristen kept going for a run/hike. I took the bike back and then headed out for a short ride. Took a different trail and too bad because Aubrey and I could have ridden most of it.

The Grant/Harrison family is headed up to Heathcote this weekend. If any of our outdoor friends are interested in a run/bike in the morning let me know. I'm planning 4 hours one morning, and then maybe some family biking, but that's it so far.

Up early and out for a run. A bit slow on the single track in the dark, but was pretty cool to watch the sun come up.

Ended up working most of the weekend preparing for a product demo on Monday. We were done around 2 pm and got home to find out Kristen was out with Aubrey for a bit. Headed to the park for an interval workout.

Running intervals 30:00 [5]

3 min on with 1 min recovery times 10.

Took until interval 4 to get the lungs cleared out from my cold and then by sprint 7 I was starting to suffer. Overall a good workout.
