Adventure Racing race 13:35:00 [4]
As Audrey said we had a really good first 8 hours of the race, it's just the later part where we fell apart. Started with a paddle and we were surprised to be one of the top 10 boards off of the water. This is a really good paddle for MBR. On to the trek and we nailed this even beating the flag to the location for CP 4. Came out of the trek just behind 2 solo males and the first team. The bike was a tough bike to nav, we made a few mistakes taking the wrong trail and having to back track, but I think all teams found themselves doing this at some point or another. Audrey got a flat on this leg as well, which cost us a bit of time, but still we worked well together. Once we were out of main road Tom did a lot of towing as Audrey was finding her legs just were missing some of their pop. And then we got to the Advanced section. We were just behind Running Free and ahead of everyone else. I was feeling really tired and just never felt comfortable on the map. Ended up taking us something like 3-4 hours on a leg that shouldn't have taken half that. We came out of the woods after finding the 3 CPs and there were no more bikes left. Some teams didn't get all 3, but the top 3 co-ed teams did so out shot at the podium was lost. Oh well, we all these races from time to time. Still a really good course and a gooed day out in the woods.
