Cycling long (MTB) 5:10:00 [4]
Got out for a good long ride today at the end of a very relaxing week. Took the mountain bike because I wanted to ride as much gravel road as I could. Turned into a really good adventure. Found a rail trail (Kissing Bridge Trailway) so road that for a while, but then it became pretty overgrown, so turned onto the gravel roads again. Also came across a road marked "use at own risk" so I decided to give it a try. Alas it was way to muddy to ride on and when the mud started to stick to the tires so they wouldn't turn anymore I turned around and kept going on the gravel roads. Good ride overall. Also learned a few things about the area.
1. On a Sunday don't assume you can stop to fill up your bottles at a convenience store, pulled into Linwood and both stores were closed. Made for a long trek home with 1 bottle of water left.
2. Once I got past St. Jacobs I'm pretty sure I saw more horse and buggies then I did cars on the side roads. Even saw the equivalent of the mini-van buggy which gave me a good chuckle.
