Orienteering race 4:45:00 [4]

This is sort of a guess at the time since we lost our SI on the way to checkpoint 13. Looking back on this race now it was a lot of fun with some really interesting navigation challenges. The sections we did well went really well, but a few (4, 10 and walk the line) gave me trouble and cost us a lot of time.

Always nice to race with Tyson and Audrey, and in the end we beat Eddie which is what's really important. :)

Very happy with this run. Only really had troubles with 15, otherwise I was pretty clean throughout.

Not bad considering it was a sprint and I'm not very good at these. Some trouble with 5, but that was it.

Terrible run from 4 to 5, but otherwise it was fine. Definitely feeling tired near the end.

A good run overall. My brain kind of turned off from 13 until 15, but then I was able to re-focus and flow through the last controls. Very happy with this. 2 years ago I was fighting just to not be last.

Note

A rather enjoyable car ride down the 401 to the 75 with Bash and Bender. Bash regaled us with stories about the different boards/committees she sits on, and then we had a great discussion about marriage and all the do's and don'ts for newbies. Pulled into the Tim Hortons in Windsor for dinner and ran into Sudden who happened to stop at the same one before he crossed the border.

Pulled into the hotel around 11pm. Bender was nice enough to give us a tour of the parking lot so that we could pick the best spot to put down the Subaru. Who knows what excitement day two will bring on this road trip. I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation... :)
