Adventure Racing 2:21:00 [4]

Stars W.A.R. with Eddie.

We had a lot of fun out there. Started with a ski and off the start line it was Team Tarno and an all female team that definitely were stronger skiers than us. By the first checkpoint we had all gone different ways and we finished out the ski at the same time as the female team.

Onto snowshoes and did the portion behind the race hut first, then went out into the ski area to get the rest of the checkpoints. At one point we had only 5 checkpoints left to get and we saw Tarno up ahead and they looked to be headed back to the finish, or to the checkpoint behind the hut. We wrapped up our checkpoints and came in just ahead of Tarno and his wife.

Great day out in the woods with some awesome weather. Also great to be able to hang out with everyone outside after the race.

Was interrupted before I could finish by a small person needing to use the washroom who couldn't be convinced to go back to bed for 15 min afterwards.

Running hills 47:00 [3] 3.6 mi (13:03 / mi)

This was an attempt to simulate the hill climbs at Laveredo. Set the incline at 9.5 % and then just ran for the whole time, did have to stop and walk once. to recover my heart rate a bit before continuing again.

Cool down and some stretching afterwards, plus some weights for my core.

Feburary is turning into a right off for me. First the family had the flu, then last weekend was a bit too cold up north for a long effort and now I've caught Aubrey's cold. Had planned to be up at 5 for a long run, but the cold really hit me today and I made the call to go back to bed and try to rest.

The whole family has been knocked out in the last week with the flu. Started with Aubrey, then K-Way and then me. Last night was the first time I felt like myself again.

Headed out for a shorter run to see how I'm doing. Felt fine today so will start back at training again this week.
