Orienteering race 2:00:00 [3] 3.5 km (34:17 / km)
Course A: came upon Walk on my way to 1. He was sprawled on his back in pain, having tripped and over-extended a shoulder. Lyn happened by within seconds and tended to him. They urged me to continue my course as they would walk back to base. As I left 1 for 2, I discovered I had lost my compass. Tried to estimate bearings by sun and shadow directions. After a few more controls, got royally confused on what should have been an easy crash through mountain laurel. Timed out and walked back to finish.
Course B: armed with borrowed compass, managed pretty well, jogging almost the whole way (something I could not have done in prior years). So finished rather pleased.
Another fine and generous offering from Charlie and Rhonda.
Note
I had replaced the battery in my Forerunner 305 yesterday but discovered today that the darn thing could not find one single satellite. I must have disturbed the antenna connection. The iPhone with tracking app is not entirely a satisfactory substitute: have to waken it, PIN in, open the app, find the small start/stop button (hard to see in sunlight and through the plastic cover of the armband). Might try opening the FR again.
